HAMISH & KATE
VIVID AND LUSH COUNTRY SIDE WEDDING AT TANGLEWOOD ESTATE, VICTORIA
HAMISH & KATE
Hamish and Kate first met at Stakes Day of the Spring Racing Carnival in 2014. While they claim to have started out as just friends for a short period of time, it is clear from their story that it might just have been true love at first sight. Hamish was astonished that such a funny, smart and beautiful woman like Kate was happy to date him and Kate was astounded by how ridiculously good-looking Hamish was. She did, however, also appreciate how kind, generous and funny he was too.
Four months into the relationship Hamish began planning a trip to Tanzania, Africa. Kate had always dreamed of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and as it happens, so had Hamish. His great aunt Sheila was, in fact, the very first woman to climb the mountain.
He then whisked her away on a fabulous journey where they first summited Mt. Kilimanjaro before heading off to the Serengeti National Park to stay at a private safari reserve, Mwiba Lodge. There, they went on a privately guided sunset safari and saw some of the most magnificent animals known to man. They stopped on a rock outcrop for a champagne toast and soaked in the wonderous sounds of Africa.
As wonderful as this trip had been thus far, it was on their return to their room that Kate beheld the most significant and breathtaking sight yet, the ridiculously good-looking Hamish on one knee.
This adventurous, fun loving couple weren’t too particular about the style of their wedding but they did know for sure that they wanted a massive celebration shared with their loved ones. The Tanglewood Estate in Merricks North, Morningside Peninsula, Victoria was where the two exchanged their own personally written vows in a tiny chapel on the property. The reception was then held at a lakeside building.
The entire day was a friendly and natural event that was complimented with the natural beauty of the surroundings and the indigenous plants. Decor was kept minimal because of the gorgeous surroundings but the colour palette was a lovely combination of navy and white. Blue thistles and succulents adorned the floral arrangements.
Kate looked absolutely stunning in her simple and beautiful one shouldered gown from Toni Maticevski with her bridesmaids in navy gowns and the men all wore light navy George and King three-piece suits.
The entire wedding was photographed by Simon Gorges who was the obvious choice when the couple saw his previous wedding photographs. They felt confident that Simon would capture their union perfectly and he did not disappoint. Hamish and Kate never had to worry about the photography as they put their full trust in Simon who was a great comfort with his relaxed yet professional manner.
The photographs truly captured the essence of the day and the absolute beauty of the couple, their loved ones and the gorgeous surroundings. The candid and natural style of Simon’s work complimented the newlyweds and their wedding’s style which too focused on natural beauty.
